Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Language and Literature is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Spanish Language and Literature, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The program provides comprehensive academic education in the Spanish language, linguistics, translation, Spanish and Latin American literature, and the culture of Spain and Latin America. Its objective is to develop the knowledge, skills and competences required for careers in education, research, translation, cultural mediation and other professional fields related to the Spanish language and the Spanish-speaking world. The programleads to the award of a unified Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Language and Literature.

Graduates acquire the academic knowledge and professional skills required for careers in Spanish language teaching, translation, research, cultural institutions, publishing, public administration, international organizations, tourism and other professional fields requiring advanced knowledge of the Spanish language, literature and the Spanish-speaking world.

Admission is governed by the applicable legislation on access to higher education. Graduates may continue to postgraduate programmes, doctoral studies and other forms of academic or professional specialisation in Greece and abroad.
Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of the Spanish language, linguistics, Spanish and Latin American literature, translation, and the cultures of Spain and Latin America. They understand the principal theories and methodologies of linguistic, literary and translation analysis, the principles of teaching Spanish as a foreign language, as well as the historical, social and cultural characteristics of the Spanish-speaking world. They also acquire knowledge regarding the use of modern technologies in education, language teaching and translation.
Skills
Graduates are able to use the Spanish language with a high level of proficiency in oral and written communication, analyse linguistic and literary texts, apply translation techniques to different types of texts and employ contemporary approaches to teaching Spanish as a foreign language. They are capable of conducting basic academic research, evaluating and synthesising scholarly information, preparing academic assignments and communicating effectively in multilingual and intercultural environments.
Competences
Graduates develop competencies in critical thinking, problem-solving, independent and collaborative work, intercultural communication and professional ethics. They are capable of meeting the professional demands of Spanish language teaching, translation, research and cultural mediation, adapting to diverse professional environments and pursuing further academic and professional development through postgraduate studies, research and lifelong learning.
