Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Studies is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Programme of the Department of Theatre Studies, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme covers the entire academic field of Theatre Studies and provides comprehensive theoretical, historical and applied education in theatre history, theatre and drama theory, dramaturgy, performance analysis, theatre practice, theatre education and theatre pedagogy. Its objective is to educate theatre scholars with advanced academic knowledge for careers in research, education, culture and theatrical practice. The programme leads to the award of a unified Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Studies.

Graduates acquire the knowledge and skills required for professional careers in theatre research, education, theatre pedagogy, dramaturgy, theatre production and management, cultural institutions, publishing, the media and the broader cultural and performing arts sectors.
Access Requirements / Progression Opportunities
Admission is governed by the applicable legislation on access to higher education. Graduates may continue to postgraduate programmes, doctoral studies and other forms of academic or professional specialisation in Greece and abroad.
Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive historical and theoretical knowledge of theatre throughout history and its role in Greek and global culture. They have acquired specialized knowledge in dramaturgical analysis, Theatre Studies, theatre history and theory, theatre practice, theatre production and organisation, playwriting, translation of theatrical works, and theories of theatre and drama in education. They also possess fundamental knowledge of the use of theatre in education and therapeutic contexts and have the academic background required for further studies and research in Theatre Studies.
Skills
Graduates are able to analyse theatrical texts and performances, apply theatre research methodologies, design and implement theatre education programmes for all educational levels, organise and support theatre productions, prepare academic and collaborative projects and apply their knowledge in dramaturgy, playwriting, translation of theatrical works and theatre practice. Through the compulsory Internship, they gain professional experience and become familiar with professional environments in culture and education.

Graduates develop competencies in decision-making, teamwork, social awareness, interdisciplinary collaboration and the promotion of creative and critical thinking.
