Description
The Bachelor's Degree in German Language and Literature is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of German Language and Literature, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive academic education in the German language, linguistics, German-speaking literature, comparative literature, German culture and the teaching of German as a foreign language. It aims to develop general and specialized knowledge, skills and competences in line with contemporary academic developments and labour market needs in Greece and internationally, preparing graduates for careers in education, research, culture and related professional fields. The program leads to the award of a single unified Bachelor's Degree in German Language and Literature.

Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of the German language, linguistics, German and German-speaking literature, the culture of German-speaking countries and the teaching of German as a foreign language. They understand the theories and methodologies of linguistic and literary analysis, the principles of intercultural communication, contemporary pedagogical approaches and the fundamental principles of academic research in linguistics, literature and language teaching.
Skills
Graduates are able to use the German language with a high level of proficiency in both oral and written communication, analyse linguistic and literary texts, apply contemporary methodologies for teaching German as a foreign language and make effective use of educational and digital tools. They can design and implement educational activities, conduct basic academic research, critically evaluate scholarly sources and communicate effectively in multilingual and intercultural environments.
