Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Primary Education of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme aims to advance Educational Sciences through academic teaching, research and the application of contemporary pedagogical approaches. It provides comprehensive scientific and pedagogical education for teaching in Primary Education, covering educational sciences, psychology, humanities, mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology and environmental education. It also develops teaching, educational planning, research, classroom management and collaboration skills through academic coursework and compulsory teaching practice.
Relation to Employment
Graduates acquire comprehensive scientific and pedagogical qualifications for employment as Primary Education teachers in accordance with the applicable legal framework. They may also pursue careers in formal and non-formal education, educational and research organisations, educational material development, public administration, cultural organisations and lifelong learning institutions, or continue with postgraduate and doctoral studies.

Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of Educational Sciences, teaching methodology and the disciplines taught in Primary Education. They understand theories of learning, child development and socialisation, principles of pedagogy, educational psychology, inclusive and special education, educational assessment, educational research and educational administration. They also acquire scientific knowledge in language, mathematics, natural sciences, history, geography, computer science, environmental education, arts and contemporary educational technologies, enabling them to design and implement effective educational interventions based on modern pedagogical principles.
Skills
Graduates are able to design, organize, implement and evaluate teaching and learning processes in Primary Education using contemporary pedagogical and instructional approaches. They can develop educational materials, use digital technologies and innovative teaching methods, create inclusive learning environments, implement differentiated instruction and assess student learning through valid and reliable assessment methods. They are also capable of conducting small-scale educational research and collaborating effectively with pupils, parents, colleagues and other members of the educational community.

Graduates are capable of practising as Primary Education teachers with scientific competence, pedagogical responsibility and professional ethics.
