Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Social Theology and Religious Studies is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies, School of Theology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive academic education in Theology, Religious Studies and related humanities and social sciences, promoting an interdisciplinary approach to religion, society and culture. It aims to develop scientific knowledge, research skills and humanistic values, enabling graduates to pursue careers in education, social service, research and public administration. The program equally integrates the academic fields of Social Theology and Religious Studies and awards a single unified degree.

Graduates acquire scientific knowledge and research skills enabling them to pursue careers as secondary education teachers, staff members of ecclesiastical organizations and social institutions, public sector professionals, employees in the wider social and cultural sector, or to continue with postgraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral studies.

Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Programe graduates possess comprehensive knowledge in the fields of Social Theology, Religious Studies and related humanities and social sciences. They understand the fundamental principles of Orthodox Theology, biblical, historical and systematic theology, as well as the theories and methodologies of Religious Studies concerning the study of religions and religious phenomena. In addition, they acquire knowledge in sociology, philosophy, psychology, pedagogy and ethics, developing an interdisciplinary understanding of the relationship between religion, society and culture.
Skills
Graduates are able to analyse and interpret theological, social and cultural issues using scientific methods and contemporary theoretical approaches. They can apply theological and religious studies research methodologies, critically evaluate sources and academic evidence, design and implement educational and research activities, and address issues related to intercultural and interreligious dialogue. They also develop skills in effective communication, teamwork, evidence-based argumentation and the use of academic literature.
Competences
Graduates possess the competencies required to undertake scientific, educational, social and research work in the fields of Theology and Religious Studies. They are able to address complex issues concerning religion, society and culture through scientific reasoning, critical thinking and respect for religious and cultural diversity. They contribute to the promotion of dialogue, social cohesion and intercultural understanding while demonstrating professional ethics, social responsibility and commitment to humanistic values.
