Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Theology is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Theology, School of Theology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive academic education in Theology and related humanities through the study of the Holy Scriptures, Patristics, Church History, Dogmatics, Liturgics, Ecclesiastical Art, Christian Ethics, Pastoral Theology and Religious Education. It also develops scientific research skills, critical thinking, academic ethics and interdisciplinary approaches to theological, social and cultural issues, preparing graduates for professional and academic careers.
Relation to Employment
Graduates acquire the academic qualifications required for careers in education, the Church of Greece and other ecclesiastical organisations, research, culture, public administration and organizations active in religion, cultural heritage and intercultural dialogue. They may also continue with postgraduate and doctoral studies.

Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of Theology and related humanities. They acquire an in-depth understanding of the Holy Scriptures, Patristic and Ecclesiastical Tradition, Dogmatic Theology, Liturgics, Church History, History of Religions, Christian Ethics, Pastoral Theology, Canon Law, Religious Education and the relationship between Theology, society and culture. They also gain knowledge of theological research, humanities research methodology, interreligious and intercultural dialogue, and contemporary approaches to theological and social issues.
Skills
Graduates are able to analyse and interpret theological, ecclesiastical and social issues using scientific methods and primary sources. They can apply theological knowledge in education, research, pastoral ministry and intercultural dialogue, prepare academic papers, evaluate and synthesise information from different disciplines, use modern information technologies and communicate scientific arguments effectively in both written and oral form.
Competences
Graduates are capable of working with scientific responsibility, academic integrity and respect for human dignity, cultural and religious diversity and human rights. They are able to address complex theological, educational and social issues independently or collaboratively, contribute to dialogue between science, society and religion, promote social cohesion and participate in research, educational and cultural activities.
