Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Sport Science is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science, School of Physical Education and Sport Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive scientific education in Physical Education, Exercise, Health, Sport Science and Human Movement through the integration of theoretical instruction, laboratory education and practical training. Its objective is to develop scientific knowledge, professional skills and personal competencies enabling graduates to meet the demands of education, sport, exercise for health and scientific research. The Department awards a single unified degree, regardless of the academic specialisations selected during the program.

Graduates acquire the scientific knowledge, professional skills and pedagogical competence required for teaching Physical Education at all educational levels, managing sport organisations and fitness centres, promoting exercise and health, supporting athletic training and participating in research and scientific activities in the field of Physical Education and Sport Science.

They understand the scientific principles governing Physical Education teaching, physical fitness improvement, health promotion, performance assessment and the application of contemporary research methods in exercise and sport. The program provides graduates with fundamental scientific knowledge, professional skills and personal development competencies required for professional practice.

Graduates are able to design, organise, implement and evaluate Physical Education, exercise and sport programmes for different age groups and populations. They can assess physical fitness and human performance, apply appropriate teaching and coaching methods, use scientific evidence for decision-making, organise sport activities and contribute to health promotion and quality of life through exercise. They also develop communication, teamwork, scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills relevant to Physical Education and Sport Science.
