Description
The Bachelor's Degree in Sociology is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Sociology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The programme provides comprehensive academic education in sociological theory, social research, quantitative and qualitative research methods, political and social philosophy, social policy, economic and political sociology, sociology of work, education, migration, culture, technology and social transformations. It combines theoretical education with empirical research and promotes critical thinking, scientific reasoning and social awareness for the analysis and understanding of contemporary social phenomena.

Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive knowledge of sociological theory, the history of sociological thought, qualitative and quantitative social research methods, social statistics, social policy, political sociology, economic sociology, the sociology of work, education, family, migration, gender, culture and technology. They understand social structures, institutions, social inequalities, processes of social change and contemporary theoretical approaches to the interpretation of social phenomena. They also acquire knowledge of research ethics and the methodology of scientific inquiry.
Skills
Graduates are able to design and conduct social research, apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, collect, process and interpret social data, use statistical tools and social research software, analyse social issues and public policies, evaluate social interventions and prepare scientific studies and research reports. They are also capable of presenting evidence-based findings, collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary environments and using modern information and communication technologies in social research and analysis.

Graduates are capable of working independently or as members of multidisciplinary teams, assuming responsibility for the design, implementation and evaluation of social research and social policies, demonstrating critical thinking, scientific integrity and social responsibility, adapting to social and technological developments and contributing to evidence-based solutions for contemporary social challenges.
