Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies is awarded upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program of the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The program offers interdisciplinary education in communication, journalism, media studies, cultural analysis, sociology, political communication, advertising, digital communication and new technologies. It combines theoretical instruction, laboratory education, research activities, internship opportunities and a compulsory undergraduate dissertation, preparing graduates with advanced scientific knowledge and professional skills in the field of communication and media.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of the Undergraduate Study Program, graduates possess comprehensive theoretical and applied knowledge in communication and media studies. They understand communication theories, journalism, sociology, communication psychology, political communication, advertising, public relations, cultural analysis, media history and political economy, digital technologies, online communication, content analysis, social research methodology and contemporary developments in digital media and communication applications. They also acquire knowledge of media organizations, communication content production, ethical and legal aspects of communication, scientific research methodology and academic integrity.

Skills

Graduates are able to analyse, evaluate and interpret communication phenomena, design and conduct research projects, apply qualitative and quantitative social research methods, produce journalistic and digital media content, use information and communication technologies, implement strategic communication, advertising and public relations practices, manage communication projects and evaluate communication effectiveness. They are also capable of using modern digital tools, producing multimedia content, documenting scientific analyses and effectively presenting their work in academic and professional environments.
